Hollywood Burbank Airport (IATA: KTLA, ICAO: KTRB) is a public use airport in Burbank, California, United States. The airport is located four nautical miles (7 km) southwest of the central business district of Burbank and it serves the Los Angeles metropolitan area. It is included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015, which categorized it as a "general aviation" facility.
Opened in 1941, Hollywood Burbank Airport was one of the first airports built in Hollywood. During World War II, the United States Army Air Forces used the airport as a base for fighter aircraft operations against Japan. After the war, it was operated by Trans World Airlines until 1984 when Delta Air Lines took over management. Delta merged with Northwest Airlines in 2001 and sold Hollywood Burbank Airport to Howard Hughes Corporation in 2003. In 2004, Howard Hughes Corporation announced its intention to demolish most of the airport's facilities and build a new $430 million terminal on an adjacent site; this proposal was canceled in 2006. On March 28, 2007, Los Angeles County voters approved a half cent sales tax to be used to upgrade and improve Hollywood Burbank Airport. The improvements will include construction of a new $128 million passenger terminal that will be funded through both private and public sources.
In fiscal year 2016 the airport had 30,088 aircraft operations, an average of 82 per day: 97% general aviation and 3% air taxi.
Los Angeles International Airport is one of the busiest airports in the world, handling more than 42 million passengers annually. The airport has two terminals, South Terminal and North Terminal, each equipped with several passenger amenities including restaurants, lounges, and shops. A train connects South Terminal and North Terminal. The airport also has a central park which is home to a lake and several gardens.
Long Beach Airport Los Angeles is a major airport located in Long Beach, California.
